Holly
Stafford
Holly Stafford is a self-taught abstract artist. After many years of working in furniture, fabric showrooms and interior design, she left the workforce to raise her three children but never lost her desire to be creative. She draws inspiration in her art from those working years by mixing color, patterns, and textures. Holly’s family, travel, and painting bring the most joy and contentment to her life. She hopes her art sparks joy and inspires. Her goal is to create a piece of art that makes you stop and smile every time you walk by and it plays a part in transforming your house into a home.
I find joy and healing in creating paintings that seek God in the beauty of His creation.

Artist Statement
I am a contemporary pyrography and watercolor artist living in Owatonna, MN with my husband and two daughters. My studio is based in our home, and I create during naptime and in the evenings.
Much of my inspiration comes from nature, especially in the Minnesota area. I find joy and healing in creating paintings that seek God in the beauty of His creation. I fell in love with the texture and visual interest wood grain creates when it is combined with pyrography and watercolor. Each wood panel is selected with the final composition in mind so darker grain and knots can flow into the painting intentionally and amplify the beauty found in the landscape. I use a variety of burning techniques and tools to bring out the dimensions of the space while adding layers of watercolor and gouache to bring the elements to life
