**Open Call for Art: “Honey I Shrunk the Art”**

Artists are invited to submit their small works, no larger than 12×12 inches, for our “Honey I Shrunk the Art” exhibition, celebrating creativity across all mediums!

Theme: Honey I Shrunk the Art
Location: Atlanta, GA
Medium: Open to all mediums (painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, drawings, glass.)
Submission Deadline: Thursday, November 14th 2024
Exhibition Dates: December 6th 2024 – January 3rd, 2025
Description: We’re excited to invite artists to submit their small works for our upcoming exhibition, “Honey I Shrunk the Art”! Each piece should measure no larger than 12×12 inches, allowing you to explore creativity in a delightful compact format. Whether you work in painting, sculpture, photography, or any other medium, we want to see your unique interpretations!

Submission Guidelines:

– Artwork needs to be 12×12″ or smaller.

– All artwork must be for sale. 
– Submit 3 high-quality images of your artwork (JPEG format preferred).
– Include a brief artist statement explaining how your work relates to the theme.
– Provide details about the artwork, including dimensions, medium, and title.

Terms and Conditions:
Artwork needs to arrive in Gallery Chimera on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 by 5:00 pm – can be dropped off or shipped. Shipping address is 624 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306
All artwork must be for sale. Artwork needs to be 12×12″ or smaller.
The Artist is responsible for all packing and shipping charges, insurance costs, other handling expenses, and risk of loss or damage incurred in the delivery of their artwork(s) to Gallery Chimera.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, the Artist must notify Gallery Chimera to arrange for pickup or return shipping of their artwork(s).
The artist is responsible for return shipping costs by providing Gallery Chimera with prepaid shipping labels.
 
Important Dates:
Deadline to enter: Saturday, November 16th 2024 at midnight
Acceptance announcement:  Saturday. November 23rd, 2024
Artwork needs to arrive at the gallery by: Saturday, November 30th, 2024
Exhibition Opening: Saturday December 7th, 2024 
Exhibition runs through: January 3rd, 2024

We, The Creative Light Collective, are a group of four female artists from various parts of the United States who are inspired by the power of our connection, collaboration, and community.

 

This season we celebrate “Radiant Synergy : Expressions of Shared Light.” Each piece in this show has accents of gold representing the light,  the beauty, and the clarity we have found as artists through our collaboration and friendship.  Our mission is to create art that not only reflects the beauty we discover in the world around us but that also serves as a catalyst for building stronger, more connected relationships.

What you’ll learn: Join us for an exciting DIY night where you can transform ordinary styrofoam pumpkins into delightful fall decorations! Using the fun technique of hodge-podging, you’ll learn how to layer colorful napkins onto the pumpkins, creating unique designs that reflect your personal style. This hands-on workshop is perfect for all skill levels, providing a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere to explore your artistic side.

What to Bring:

– If you have a specific napkin pattern in mind, feel free to bring them!

– Otherwise, all supplies will be provided.

Victoria Phillips (b.1992, United States) graduated with a B.A. in Visual Arts in 2013 from Lee University in Cleveland, TN. She earned her M.F.A. in Painting at Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019. She attended Piedmont College for a Gifted Endorsement and Teaching Certification in Art Education. She has been involved in numerous exhibits throughout the United States as her private collectors continue to grow domestically and abroad. Phillips completed an artist in residency in Skopelos, Greece in 2019. In addition, Phillips was represented by the VAN GOGH Art Gallery for an international exhibition in Monaco in 2020. She is a part-time Assistant Professor of Art at Kennesaw State University.

Victoria’s overall body of work is a continuation of exploring my spiritual ethos. Through exploring the transcendental qualities found in my processes and metaphorical connections, I aim to delineate a sense of hope while providing an environment that is conducive for a visceral experience.

Our workshop is the perfect place to learn the basic techniques for photography, with an experienced instructor to guide you through the entire process.

First Class – 2 hours, Second Class 3 hours
 
What you’ll learn:
This introductory photography class is designed for newcomers who want to explore the fundamentals of capturing stunning images. The course covers essential topics such as understanding your camera’s settings, including exposure, aperture, and shutter speed, different types of lenses, as well as the basics of composition and lighting.
 
In the first class, we’ll begin with a presentation and discussion, followed by an assignment designed to reinforce the key principles of photography covered. In the second class, we’ll review the completed assignments and spend time photographing together, applying the concepts in a practical setting.
 
What to Bring:
– A camera other than a smartphone
– Your creativity!
 
By the end of the class, you’ll gain the confidence and skills needed to take better photos, experiment with creative techniques, and begin developing your own photographic style.

What you’ll learn:
 
Basic Techniques: Explore the essentials of gel printing, including how to prepare, handle and store gel plates.  
Design Tips: Learn tips and tricks for creating dynamic compositions and patterns.
Color Mixing: Experiment with color blending to achieve stunning effects in your prints. 
Layering: Discover the art of layering different elements to add depth and complexity to your prints.
