Idealization

To be loved as an idea rather than a person is to lose yourself in the embrace of expectation. The warmth of devotion can also be the weight of an illusion. When love is idealized the person becomes a projection a reflection of longing rather than a reality. She is adored yet unseen—held yet slipping away into the dream of another.
